I was watching the viedo “New Breed of Bandsaws by Thomas McKenna” and he was using what he called a “Resaw sled” made by John White. It looked to be made of plywood, drawer slides, rope and weights (5lb.-71/2lb. & 10lb.) How do I go about getting a set of planes and material list for this sled. Oh yes and how much?
Thank you : Bob Harris

Bob,
Hi, I'm John White, the guy who built the sled. I've been asked numerous times about the sled and where to get plans. Here is what I said when the video originally came out:
"I built that sled specifically for testing of the saws and I cut a lot of wood on it for that article and another band saw test we did a few years ago.
To be honest, the sled is cumbersome to use, requires several minutes to set up and adjust, and the stock being sawn needs to be screwed onto the carriage from behind with brass screws that will get sawn off during the last few cuts if you are going to use all of the stock. It isn't a practical design for day to day use, doesn't offer any real advantage over resawing by hand, and it has relatively limited capacity. It is however a blast to watch."
Sorry if this isn't the answer you were hoping for. I will be at the FWW shop in about a month to shoot some videos, perhaps we can do a short video on how the sled was built and post it here.

Thank you for the answer. It did look good and I am sorry that it isn't a good thing.
Thank you again.

WHAT is wrong with that?
You're right, nothing is wrong with that. I'm obviously one of those people that goes into the shop to play with tools and invent jigs, I almost never actually make furniture anymore, too dull.John W.
I don't make anything either. But I do have a buddy who ocassionally sends me a box of sawdust and shavings that I can spread around the shop for image.
I hear you. I can spend more time on a Jig than the project!
