On a Fine Woodworking video I saw a demonstration of resawing on various bandsaws being tested using a very unique resaw sled. I was imptessed with this jig for general resawing application and wonder if anyone knows if a plan is available to build one. Anyone doing much resawing would have an interest.

"Anyone doing much resawing would have an interest." That sled was designed by John White for the resaw tests they were doing, and the subject came up at another forum, so I wrote to him in the Experts section of FWW.com asking about a plan for it. His response indicates it's not practical for normal resaw use.
Many thanks... makes sense to me... come to think of it I was mesmerized just watching the thing work... love the forestgirl handle and motto.
By the way... which 14" bandsaw would you prefer for all around use? GoPewter
"...which 14" bandsaw would you prefer for all around use?" Hah! Would rather have a MiniMax 16", but $$whew$$!! Actually, you might want to review the archives and find Sarge's posts on the Steel City band saws. He did a great deal of hands-on research comparing them to other brands (don't quote me... Powermatic? Jet? Delta??). My band saw is an old Grizzly 1019Z, got it 'cause it was cheap. So much depends on your budget. In the low-cost offerings, I'd get a Grizzly, would steer away from the Ridgid. Jets tend to be underpowered, not sure about Delta. Don't trust Rikkon, though new owners seems pleased, once they fix the factory mis-drilled holes, etc.
Get to more jingle in my jeans, who knows?!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
For something even smoother to watch... more jingles in those jeans... have you seen this little resaw jewel?

That is impressive! I had to restrain myself when the cursor headed toward the "Buy" symbol. I may succumb yet.I am delighted with my 14" Laguna. I haven't had a whisper of a problem. The 'mobility' package works like a dream - simple and effective.Frosty"I sometimes think we consider the good fortune of the early bird and overlook the bad fortune of the early worm." FDR - 1922
I saw one at the woodworking show last year. Cool! Wouldn't get me in the Laguna camp though, too leary of their customer service reputation. (or lack thereof) Just hypothetical anyway, can't see ever having that much jingle, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I know, just what is it with that customer service reputation... I have a Laguna 16HD, and love the hell out of it; good thing I never have problems. I wouldn't trade it for the world. But those salesman are out of whack. Someone should write to them and ask point blank what their problem is. They have excellent machines, but probably lose a great deal of business because of their proven reputation. One thought I had is that because they do so much high-tag industrial machines, they don't care to impress the little folks only spending a couple grand. Dunno.
"...and ask point blank what their problem is." Their problem comes from the top -- the mind-set of that particular coporation. Salespeople in any given corporation get their direction from the top, their training is tailored to fit the corporate approach, and even the selection of sales candidates is angled to fit what the executives see as the "right" mind-set.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Ah, ForestGirl, you speak truth! But while good training helps, management gets the kind of behavior that they demonstrate.
