Hi everyone
I’ve always been confused about this. I thought once I’ll have my own bandsaw I’ll get it but I still don’t.
So many people say the bandsaw is the most important power tool in their shop.
For me the most important one is the table saw, and I absolutely love the massive table mine has.
Why do bandsaws have such ridiculously small tables? How can you control either a long or wide piece (or both) through the blade when you have to put most of your attention on balancing the workpiece in your hands? Worse if you have a heavier sled to push also.
I’ve had to do it recently and it worked but I could have made much nicer cuts if I didn’t have to do the balancing act.
I thought maybe people build extensions for their bandsaws as they do for tablesaws, but I almost never see that in shop photos.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Andrew

A lot of cuts are easier when we can get closer to the blade. A very large table would cut down on that accuracy.
I made a large table for my bandsaw, but took it off. I thought having one would help, but it really didn't.
Very rarely I'll cut something where a need support. I'll use an adjustable stand when that happens. But 99 percent of the time the stock table works great.
The other drawback I didn't anticipate with a shopmade table Is that it makes changing blades a major PITA.
