I am assembling a Delta 14″ bandsaw with 6″ riser. With a straightedge, have a gap at the top of the top wheel of .032″ (approx. 1/32″) with no tension. (Riser block was clean and as far as I could tell, I got a “tight” fit.)
1. Will this affect tracking – or lead to other problems such as excessive wear?
2. If a problem, how do I fix? I am assuming that a washer on the top wheel will not work since it will also move the bottom of the top wheel out of alignment. My only thot is to put a shim under the inside of the riser block in order to move it.
Any thots would be much appreciated.

If I understand your description correctly, the tracking adjustment is what you need to move to change this. Make sure the wheels are close to parallel front to back also.
You're close enough now that it's time to put on your blade and see how it tracks, then adjust based on that.

Thanks. Will try it and see how it goes.
Jess.
The tracking is the right adjustment, but make it while the saw is under tension. Tension is also needed if you decide to make the wheels coplanar with washers after adjusting them parallel with the tracking knob.

This is the book to get if you want to get the most out of your bandsaw. It has extensive instructions on setting up and tuning saws like yours, along with good info on using.
