Does anyone have any experience in duplicating a barnwood finish. I am wanting to make some picture frames and would like to have the appearance of aged barnwood. What type of wood do you reccommend?

Find someone that has some used barn boards!!!
Really, there are a lot of places out there that are selling used barn wood.
Since you don't have any info in your profile its kinda hard to tell you of any place near you.

If you can't lay your hands on some old wood, use oak. It's relatively easy to fake a weathered and worn look on oak.

Not sure what you are exactly talking about.. I made something awhile back.. Pine.. Used a wire brush on a angle grinder to knock out the soft wood.. Looked OK if ya like that look!

If it is the color you want then try an exterior semi transparent stain like for decks or other exterior jobs . The stain comes in opaque as well .
