hello,
thanx in advance. it says new user but I was on in the past. I have already searched.
I am finishing another basement and my buddy wants the floor warmer. I want to throw down rigid pink insulation with mastic then plywood with mastic. 1 1/2″total.
this is a foot trafic only situation. carpet will be installed on top. I would like 1″ pink plus 1/2″ cdx but will go 3/4″ ea. if needbe.
all I’ll be saving is the sleepers time money.
all the time at work i see the conc. boys puttin 2″ of creat on 2″ of pink with wirsbo in it.
thankx again
brian

The 1/2" CDX will curl up to the point that you won't be able to walk across the floor, 3/4" plywood won't be much better. Gluing it to the foam won't help since the foam has almost no strength.
You could possibly do this with one of the OSB's meant for flooring.

There was an article in Fine Homebuilding about this. If you search their site you may be able to find it. If not go to breaktime. I believe the author of the article is one of the breaktime monitors.

thank you its been awile (new puter) since i was on. seems tautons lost profile?? and i thought breaktime had been brought here. Ive since been searching breaktime and have learned more about basement remodels wich is what landscapers do in winter.
ive only been called on insulating the floor twice before used sleepers both times. but with the resulting comfort it seems more important than the walls. i got onto some building tech site recomended in older msg. the pink gets glued, the cdx t&g floating???or sleapers ontop of pink???
thankx again, headed to breaktime to repost.
radiant floor heating.
no comparison to any other heating system.
Expert since 10 am.
