All,
I’m going to be building some adirondak chairs this fall for our back yard. I already know that they will be painted, and have not bought any wood for them yet. I have several sheets of 3/4″ baltic birch plywood left over from a previous project, and got wondering if perhaps I could save a few bucks and use it up on the chairs. My gut tells me to go ahead and buy the cypress or cedar, but I thought I’d ask here and see if perhaps the birch would be comperable on a painted outdoor project.
BTW thanks in advance, I don’t speak up often but I truly enjoy and use the advise on this forum.

dwp66,
I'd stay away from the plywood for this project. Your other wood choices sound good though.
What you'd want for that kind of thing is Finnish Birch which uses exterior glue between the plies.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thanks to GRW and forestgirl, you confirmed what I suspected. I'll go ahead an purchase proper materials.
