Was wandering around a new Lowe’s store yesterday and passed by the display of BBQ covers. What caught my eye was the fact that one of the covers had fuzzy lining on the inside, with usual plastic on the outside. It look suspiciously well-sized for a jointer cover, and costs only $12.98.
Am wondering if one of these would be a reasonable substitute for the expensive tool covers sold in some of the catalogs. Anyone have one of these spiffy ones — what’s their design? Being in the Pacific Northwest, covers are useful during any long stretches when I’m not heating the shop.

Hey, FG i use a cover on my Harley that I keep in a corner of my shop. I had to put a 60 watt incandescent lamp under the cover to keep down condensate collecting on my scoot. I live in North Georgia and we don't have the incessant rain y'all have but hte humidity here is murderous. If ya cover up cast iron keep an eye on it for rust due to condensate. If ya get it hang a drop light under the cover with a 60 watt lamp in it. Cures condensate collection 99 percent of the time. God Bless us all. RickW
Hi FG I've had bad experiences with car covers and condensation .The better car covers are all breathable .Doesn't waxing the tables and a wipe with a lightly oiled cloth keep rust at bay?Of course you could always cut the back out of DH's Gore-tex jacket when he is sleeping! That is a nice breathable material
Hi forestgirl,
I live in coastal Maine and my shop is heated only when I'm in it.
I use an old cotton blanket to cover the jointer when its not in use. I do keep up with waxing the tables and have not had a problem with condensation/rust.
