I am making a cherry pencil post bed for my daughter. Is 1/4 inch OK for bed bolts or should I go 3/8 ? It seems to me the bolts are just needed to pull the joint together and the MT bears the weight and prevents rotation. Really, it seems like the smaller bolt should work.
Thanks

FWIW, I'm in the process of drawing up plans for a bed for my daughter. Looking in the hardware catalogs, most bed bolts seem to be 1/4-20.
I think the 1/4 inch would look funny...certainly strong enough though. Also, I like the larger washer on the the 3/8 to add stability if the M&T shrinks a little. Just an opinion....
