By golly, I have one of those! I was looking at the other planes he has for sale. I know next-to-nothing about old planes, and was surprised to see that something considered a "jointer plane" would have a corrugated sole.
Looks like a pretty good seller, excellent FB anyway.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
The Meekers are one of the staples among tool sellers. Long, good history even prior to the Bay.
I've attached pics of two of my corrugated planes. One, an Ohio #8 is fitted with the OEM blade from a LN #8. The other, a Sargent #6 is fitted with a thick Hock blade. Both are top performers. Mostly used when making large flat surfaces and the occassional edge jointing--which a corrugated sole isn't the best at unless the edge is wider than a 3/4" piece of stock.
Take care, Mike
Don't know if you saw it or not--some one was selling HALF of a Stanley #5 this week--auction started at $20! Looks like the plane was either broken across the mouth or cut across the mouth in a poor attempt to make a large chisel plane. The tote was broken and the left side was missing two big chunks of iron. Unbelievable. Tom
Tom,
The crazy thing is, that guy will probably get $100 for it.

I would weep for the world if that happens!! Right now, in my parents garage, sits my grandfather's old bedrock 605. The lever cap has a corner broken off, the tote is broken in two places, the knob is crack and chipped, and the sides have pieces broken out. My heart leapt and then sank the first time I saw it--what a waste. Tom"Notice that at no time do my fingers leave my hand"
I know how you feel. About 3 years ago, I cracked the corner off of the frog of my 605 1/2, and I still haven't been able to find a replacement. It's the round sided version, and I bought a frog from a seller on ebay for $40.00 (just the frog), only to find out that it doesn't fit mine. The plane still works, but the lateral adjustment doesn't.
Jeff
Would the frog from the 605 fit your 605.5? Tom"Notice that at no time do my fingers leave my hand"
cts, I think not as the 605 is an iron width of 2" and the 605 1/2 is 2 1/4". Stanley's standards are strange a 5 1/4 the school or baby jack plane is 1 3/4" and a 4 is 2"while the 4 1/2 is 2 3/8? Go figure. Pat
Oh, well. Given the condition of the rest of the plane, the frog might be the only intact part! Tom"Notice that at no time do my fingers leave my hand"
