I am a raw newbie beginner, not that familiar with fasteners, and I do not yet own a drill, nor have the skill yet to make my own bench dogs.
I just bought a Veritas Worksurface, which has 3/4” holes for adding bench dogs, and I have a question.
For my project, I need to securely anchor an “articulated 3rd arm” accessory item to the top of my Veritas Worksurface, ideally via some kind of bench dog fitting. My accessory has a short male 1/4”-20 thread at it’s bottom, and that threaded end is about a half-inch in length.
I realize I could simply screw the accessory directly into the Worksurface’s wood top, but I don’t want to mar the new wood surface, and I hope there is a more elegant solution via the dog holes.
I’m curious if there exist specialized bench dogs (that securely fit 3/4” holes and lie low near the surface) that also have a female 1/4”-20 threaded hole on their top surface? If so, I could anchor such a dog and then simply screw in my articulated arm accessory, directly into the top of that dog.
If such a bench dog is not available, is there another recommended solution?
Thanks!

PS: My accessory arm does not have that pictured bottom plate. It just has a male 1/4”-20 threaded end.

You will need one or two 1/4" fender washers (hole correct for 1/4" bolt, washer much bigger in diameter than typical 1/4" washer); a special 1/4" nut called various things; instead of being about 1/4" thick, it is long -- 1/2"-3/4", designed to allow the threaded ends of two bolts to be joined together. You will put a fender washer on the stud on your arm, then the junction nut about halfway on your stud, then use a bolt of appropriate length from underneath your bench, with a fender washer to keep it from just passing up thru the bench dog hole, screwed into the junction nut. All parts should be available from a good hardware store, or a big box store. I go to the local hardware store first...
Thanks! I’ll try this.
And your suggestion worked!!

You may wish to investigate a "bushing" of 3/4 inch diameter with a 1/4 inch hole and a length to match the distance from the bottom of the junction nut to the bottom of your table. That way the 1/4 inch rod from the bottom will not have an opportunity to move around as you move the "articulated 3rd arm."
I'm pretty certain that Lee Valley has a gizmo you can attach to your lamp, and it goes in a dog hole.
My work lamp has a prong at the bottom that fed into a clamp. When I took off the clamp, the prong fit into an appropriate hole drilled in a dowel sized to fit my dog holes.
