Bench Type Swing Looking for Description and Plans
I would very much like to build a bench type swing for my wife’s garden and am having trouble finding plans. I’ve seen a number of these over the years, but for the life of me I can’t think of what they are called (part of the problem). At least one had a bench that slid on tracks and others I can recall hung by chains from some kind of beam. Would someone please tell me what they are called. I would very much appreciate knowing where I might find plans too. One feature I have been thinking about is having some form of ceiling or cover on it to provide some shade, though this may not be strictly necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. fred

I would call it a Garden Swing but that didn't bring up much here at the Fine Woodworking Projects and Plans.
Here's one

I think this book is out of print but available cheap on amazon. I've built the swing depicted on the cover four times over the past twenty years.
The term "porch swing" may bring up more plans and ideas with a google search.
