I have a 10 inch benchtop table saw and would like to know if it will operate safely with a dado blade. If so, what size dado blade should I install?

Which brand of table saw do you have? Can you get a dado plate insert? Probably your arbour is 5/8 diameter, check your arbour'length and go with a 6" dado set if it's possible.

On the Table Saw thread someone mentioned that weight may be an issue with the dado blade in the bench top model. I agree, try the 6" blade, it is also cheaper; just make sure you check with the manufacturer's recommendations. I have not used my 8" dado to cut more than 1" deep dadoes - the 6" will work just fine. When you decide to upgrade to a floor mounted contractor's saw, then the 8" carbide is in order.
