Benchtop Table Saw for Workshop Table
I’m new to woodworking and am about to purchase a table saw. I’m going to get benchtop/portal one, but plan to incorporate it into my shop table. In the future – as I get more advanced, I would like to the option to be able to extend my fence, etc. so this new table saw won’t hold me back in the future.
Originally I was looking at getting a Dewalt table saw but I don’t think their rack and pinion fence system would make such future expansions possible. Versus a table saw that has a clamping fence where I could run a longer square beam on the front of my worktable and then put an aftermarket fence that could clamp down as far out as I want – extending my work area.
Any thoughts? Suggestions on best table saws for a beginner that wants to have something that can grow as my skills increase?
THANKS!

I have that DeWalt table saw and mounted it to the end of my workbench. It was a winner. I love the rack and pinion fence for accuracy, especially in a saw at that level.
In the world of portable table saws I don't think you'll get a fence that does more. I was able to attach featherboards and other helpers to my fence.
I did eventually upgrade to a hybrid Ridgid saw and love that it's quieter and more powerful. The fence leaves a bit to be desired compared to the DW saw. I've been thinking of saving for an Incra fence though :)
