   Hi Richard,

   Sound like an interesting project. Are you doing the painting?

    I’ve used bending ply extensively: one of the chapters in my book “Dining Tables” is dedicated to its use. It comes either 1/8” or 3/8” thick in 4’ by 8’ sheets. You can get it to form either a “4 foot tube” or an “8 foot tube” – this is how I identify what I want to the lumberyard to make sure I get the right product. While it is preferable to use a vacuum bag to form the curve, you can use regular clamps over the form but the surface won’t be as even. Make sure you use urea resin glue for it’s hard glue line. Use enough layers of 1/8" masonite as cauls to get even presure from the clamps.  The product is easy to use and very versatile. My shopmate and I once used it to form a wavy headboard for a bed.
