I’ve been reading Michael Fortune’s article on bending wood in the latest FWW, and I’m considering using his methods for an upcoming project–a bowfront sofa table. It seems more adventageous to bend the front apron rail than to saw it into laminations and glue and clamp it to a form. I’m assuming that I’ll need a steel band as wide as the apron rail, yes?

Bow Front
For a small radius bend you can do without a steel strap. Steam bending may not be advantageous in your application.
