Hello:
I just purchased a Bosch straight 1/4″ shaft router with a pattern bearing at the bottom for my Bosch Colt hand held. I noticed that the bearing left an indentation on the test piece that it was riding against. Upon closer view of the router while in motion it appears that the bit a rotates 1/32 to 1/16 ” off of the axis of the motor at the bearing end. I’m wondering if this is 1) a defective bit 2) due to the 1/4″ shaft or 3) the axis of the motor is off.
Anyone have any experience or knowledge of what might be going on here?

If this is the only bit this happens with I would return it. Soft materials will dent when being cut and you often need a fence to spreed the "load" of cutting.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if I'm even going to keep the Colt. I have a bad feeling about the purchase and better to be made whole now than to hang on to a defective tool.
