Hello all,
Has anyone been to the big orange box and picked up any of the Bessey F type clamps that are on sale? They seem to be running about 40% off. They are going pretty fast. Managed to get myself a bunch.
Also, does anyone have the PC brad or finish nailers? I am thinking of picking up the combo this weekend as a birthday present to myself. The Brad nailer, Finish nailer and pancake compresser for $299.

I have not seen the discount but I will make a point to check it out!
I have the PC brad nailer (125) and the finish nailer (250) and like them both very much. I have had them a couple of years and use them almost every weekend with no problems.
The reviews I've read seem to rate the PC's pretty high, everyone really likes the paslode, but I don't see that they offer the combo units.
I bought several 21/2" throat clamps 36 inches long for $10 each, I bought a bunch with the 4" throat in various lengths also for around $10 each, and I got four HD clamps 12" long for $15 each. These have around a 5-6" throat.
I hope you find some.
I cleaned out three local HDs of these last month, and the manager at one told me they were in the process of discontinuing all the Bessey stuff, and that one day ... one fine day ... the Bessey K-body clamps would also be on clearance. That will be the day to be there when they open the doors!

Wow! you did clean them out. I'm keeping my eye on those K boby types. Glad you made out.
That is a HUGE rotary table in the background. What do you do with the mill, at least that is what I assume it is mounted on?
The rotary table belongs to one of the WWs with whom I share space, and I haven't had occasion to use it - yet.
He has some very nice gear indeed - the clamps are themselves hanging from the bed of a 12 foot Oliver patternmaker's lathe, plus there's the computerized 10 (12?) foot Altendorf sliding TS, Martin planer, 36 inch disk sander, etc. etc., to no seeming end. The Altendorf is dreamy, I admit.
Add to that the several thousand bf of Cuban mahogany that these guys salvaged after Hurricane Andrew, and it's an enviable setup indeed. (This shop on the east coast in the winters, Four Sisters in N. CA in the summers, I'm a lucky guy.) Just 2 weeks ago, they got the attached Cuban Mahogany logs from a city crew clearing a lot - main trunk's about 9' long, and should be some pretty figure in the crotches up top. (plus the crew even used their 'claw' to put it in his truck for him!) Otherwise it was headed to the landfill ...

I have 4 PC nailers: DA250B 15ga, BN125A 18ga, PIN100 pinner and NS150A stapler.
Would buy each one again.

I've had the PC brad nailers & stapler for years. Bulletproof on a commercial level.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to go with the Porter Cables.
I bought the brad nailer/pancake compressor three years ago and love it. I use the nailer everyday and it works great.
The only problem I've encountered is it (like most nailers) doesn't like the cold. The pin will fire and then jamb, letting the compressed air just leek for about three seconds. Then it resets and does the same thing over and over. Other than that it's a great gun.
Don't know anything about the finish nailer. I have the DW 15 gauge and use that every day too.
Good luck.Jim

Thanks Jim,
I bought the combo this weekend. I am new to these pancake compressors, and while reading the manual, came across directions that the compressor should be drained after every use. Do you do that?
Thanks,
Bob
YES, I always drain all of my compressors, no matter what type (unless it has an integrated drain like some of the large oil ones). Moisture in the air will condense inside the tank as it heats up and then cools. If you do not drain it, it will end up in the line and ruining your tools, plus it will rust the tank away (very dangerous).
Hope you like the combo, be safe and be smart. Always read and listen to everything the manuals say (except for the ts guard....kidding). And glasses are good, the exhaust air thats realeased from the back can blow dust and other particles into your eye if the gun is close to your head (work in construction, this happens all the time with guns and drills).
Good luck, sorry about the tangent.

Thanks, I will drain it. Will probably fire it up this weekend.
I have both the BN125 and BN259 PC finish nailers. Both are good, no problems. Make sure you get the newest version of the 250 model. Its been out for about a year or so. It allows you to use any size nails in its range without unbolting and removinf/inserting a small adaptor piece. This is the only complaint I have with my older version. In fact that sounds like a good reason to upgrade...right??? :)
I also have a Senco FN41XL (15 guage) it is awsome and oil less. I would give serious though to another Senco nailer.
