I’m getting ready to buy a bandsaw and I want a serious tool that will have no problem resawing wide boards. My leading candidate is the Laguna LT14SE. It has a 2 hp motor, 12″ resaw capacity, and a sticker price of $1,200. A friend of mine has the LT16 and it is a joy to use.
Is this saw a good choice for the money? Any comments or other recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks

There seem to be a lot of us interested in bandsaws these days.
Take a look at the current issue of American Woodworker for a good review. They rate the Laguna model you mention very highly.
American Woodworker? blasphemy!!!!
I'm hoping Taunton will forgive me.
There is some irony in the fact that down-market American Woodworker featured a review of $1,000 - $1,500 bandsaws the same month that up-market Fine Woodworking featured a review of cordless drills. As my kids say, whatever.
Much as I hate to say it, that bandsaw review in the Oct. issue of American Woodworker was very well done and I think it put the bandsaw reviews in FWW to shame.
