Hey dustdevils, who makes an excellent coping saw? I am ready to upgrade from the home depot version. I am looking for versatility and durability; something that can be used as a fretsaw with a quick blade change. If there are not any good combos, I guess Ill have to just get both individually … darn. Lie Nielson doesn’t make one that I know of and the Lee Valley doesn’t seem to be anything special. From my experience, it’s all about the blade. Anyone tried out the Lee Valley coping saw blades? As for the use, I will be cutting curves in 8/4 Teak.
Thanks for the help, I know you all like tool talk anyways.

I have a Spear and Jackson coping saw (and use their blades) that I don't have any complaints about, but I've never tried it on two inch thick Teak either.
Either Olsen coping saw or Tools for Working Wood Bow saw
Cary:
Highland Woodworking carries the Olsen coping saw and blades which are pretty good. For 2" teak I think I would look seriously at the bow saw offered by Tools for Working Wood http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/Merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=toolshop&Product_Code=GT-BOWSAW12&Category_Code=TS
They offer free plans and parts for making your own at a substantial savings. A bow saw is a fairly easy project.

I can't help with a decent coping saw, beyond recommending an Olson, which is adequate, but if you are seeking something like a fretsaw, then you must look at this ..
