I am getting ready to start gluing up the table top for a Mission style dining table that I am building. I typically just use regular wood glue, but was wondering what type of glue others prefer to use for this type of job? Also do you have any useful “Gluing-up”tips to pass along?
Thanks
Cheers,

I've found PVA works fine and as they say forms a bond stronger than the wood surrounding it. I personally love the Lee Valley GF2000 cabinetmakers glue as it is tan and has a high solids content.
Many swear by urethane glues, but I couldn't get the hang of them as far as not having them make a big mess of foaming yuk.
Hide glue works fine too.
I recently read somewhere that the strength differences between these types of glues are negligible in that all are more than strong enough for the task.
Right on Samson. The glues all work, so the secret to a strong glue joint becomes proper joinery (tight fitting parts), with a little wiggle room at the bottom of the mortise to collect the excess glue. JL
