I'm not well versed on the subject, but if you go to an automotive parts store that sells spray cans of touch up paint, you will usually find some that is intended for high heat applications like engines. If you are going to paint your project, this might work.
For clear finishes, the only thing I can think of is epoxy. I know epoxy is not heat proof, but it is probably more resistent than ordinary finishes such as polyurethane or lacquer. Check with the manufacturer first.
If the hot tools will be hung from a hook, there shouldn't be a concern. If they will be laid donwn on a surface, you might consider using a plastic laminate counter top material or even a man made or natural stone material like granite.
Putting hot tools on a plastic laminate or wood surface, regardless of the paint finish, is a bad idea. Using a material like stone or some sort of metal "stand" or grate sounds much better.
One approach would be to make it out of ebony and leave it unfinished, you could also ebonize a very hard wood. https://www.finewoodworking.com/project-guides/finishing/ebonizing-wood-2
It just depends on how hot it is. The OP doesn't cite specific temperatures. But, plastic laminate will withstand a lot of heat before damage. We can not be sure what will work in this circumstance.
Stands like you describe (that I have seen) have steel sleeves inserted to accept things like hair dryers and curling irons.
If you go in Gulfstar's direction, Ipe is practically fireproof and would cost at least half a leg less than ebony. You can turn it jet black by heat treating it if you want to "ebonize".
Thank you for every single answer,a lot of great ideas and informations that maybe I should have tought of before asking and thank you for the fast replies,I did not know but Im happy to find such an active forum about this passion or profession we share !All the best and for sure I will be around with other questions if Im not getting too annoying😁!
