Best Low Budget Bandsaw Riser Block Setup
I’m curious of the best low budget band saw set up that can take and handle the job of a riser block for resawing 12″. (My budget is the cheapest best available setup)
I don’t have a lot of frequent bandsaw needs or I would go with a more expensive setup that has the capabilities already.
This is for a few home projects using old barn beams. I wont get into that too much as im just looking for best possible setup.
Jet and grizzly pop up often, but adding their riser blocks to their cheaper setups usually end up close to the same cost as the actual setup I am looking for.
As stated, this isnt a high use item but like anyone Id like it to last as a normal bandsaw after the few odd projects I have to get done differently.

I had very little luck with resawing on a bandsaw with a riser block. I just couldn't tune the saw to get accurate cuts. I was lucky to get two 5/16ths boards from a piece of 4/4 stock. I put a lot of time into it as well.
I finally got a Laguna 14-12, and kick myself for the time and money I spent on the other machine. I can slice 1/16th veneers from 10 inch cherry all day long with a pretty inexpensive blade.
You will be best served by finding a saw with the capacity you need rather than trying to modify a smaller unit. Remember, a riser block and associated components are not all that will be needed. Resawing something that wide will also require more power. So, you will likely need to upgrade the motor. Just find a used saw with these capacities built-in.
I understand the advice I've gotten above but that's not my question. If I can get through what little work I have to do in this matter I can use the size of the bandsaw as it was intended.
