I just bought a new Miter saw, the old Dewalt 12″ SCMS. I am looking for a stand for use in the shop and on the jobsite. I built the stand for my old saw but am looking for something lighter and more portable with stops on the fence. Any experience with Sawhelper? Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is any "best" miter saw stand.
It depends on how you prefer to use such a stand.
There are two basic categories:
1) folds up into itself, and has wheels so you can roll it away (Trojan 2000, Rousseau).
2) Stands with component parts -- where you can break the stand into various parts and carry them away. There are many in this category -- Dewalt, Trac 3, Sawhelper, etc.
Many would say the Sawhelper is the best in this latter category, mainly because of its accurate stop system for repeat cuts. But it is also the most expensive.
I have the Trojan 2000, which I use exclusively for job site work. And I like it a lot.
If I were looking for a stand that I would set up in the shop, and occasionally want to carry to a job site, I would opt for the Sawhelper. But to make it most effective, you need an 8' track on the left side of the saw, and 5' on the right -- and neither track can be further broken down for transport.

I use the Dewalt stand with my Dewalt CMS for job site work. I think it works quite well, and is reasonably portable. HTC is now offering a stand that is similar to the Dewalt version, that might be worth a look.

One that you might want to try, depending on your needs, is the Rigid stand sold at Home Depot. The advantage being, if you set it up and don't like it (a) you can return it easily and (b) you can learn something first-hand about the features and what you like/don't.

I've got the Ridgid Miter Saw Utility Vehicle (MSUV) that is sold by Home Depot. It is one of the neatest engineering designs ever.
Sometimes on sale, but I paid list at $170 for it and it is worth it.

I have Ridgid Miter Saw Utility Vehicle also. I have a 5 foot extension that I add when I want to setup for long work. The extensions are leveled and supported by the rollers on the stand. I can take it on a job site if I want. And if I'm feeling crowded in my shop I can fold it up and put it in the corner. I paid $150 and I'm happy with it so far.
WHile I have not studied all the other offerings, this Ridgid MSUV seems to be the best. Especially for pros who need portability.
Pass the word!

Here's pics of mine. I made it, along with fences that have adjustable stops out to 140" left and right. This is my job site saw. I have a similar set up for my shop saw, without the folding stand.

I also own the Ridgid. It's a good stand and cheap I got mine for $134.00 when it was on sale.
I bought a Wolfcraft at Farm and Fleet on sale for $78. It does the job. It folds up and has wheels as well as telescoping support extensions. If I had the space I would build a permanent station with dust collection and blade storage.
