Best R.O. Sander for large, flat work?
I’d like to hear from the experienced about the larger RO sanders available. Are the Fein 6″ or 8″ sanders worth their price? What about Metabo’s 450, or Makita’s 6030?
The work is finish sanding green, hardwood timbers, 6″ to 12″ wide. Alot of them.
Sanding time and operator fatigue are most important.
Thank you.

We have dynabrade air powered ROS's in our timber shop. We just recently got the 8" model and the guys love it. Air powered is lot lighter than electric and more durable. A good reference is toolsofthetrade.net
What cfm of air needed for your sander? Thanks.
19 cfm at 90 psi but we have a 10 hp rotary screw compressor.
Jeez, finish-sanding green lumber sounds like trouble. Have you considered a wide power plane? Timber-framers use them. Makita makes one that's 7" wide, and there are ones up to 12 or 13". http://www.timberwolftools.com/ is a supplier of timber-framing tools.
