Hi:
I am looking to purchase a wide belt sander. I am mooving to a new and bigger space. I want to buy a wide belt sander either 37″ or 43″. I need advice on which one to get.
The place does NOT have 3 phase service (How difficult is to get 3 phase service?)
My budget is in the 10,000 and under range.
Thank you!

Hi AW,
I don't know what your specific situation is, but if you have $10K to spend, then you definitely should look into a 3Ø upgrade. Not only will your sander cost less with a 3Ø motor, it will be cheaper to install (less copper), cheaper to operate (less juice), and leave more power on your panal for other circuits (smaller breakers).
My 3Ø upgrade paid for itself in four months, when I inherited an monster 3Ø compressor that no one wanted.

It is not necessary to bring a 3 phase drop into your shop. There are both mechanical and electronic solutions to convert single to three phase.

thank you!
I just found out that the place taha I am moving to does have 3 phase service!
If you could afford it TimeSaver is a very good Sander - A 3 belt 42 in. is a very nice Sander . They will send a man to set it up and go over everything you need to know. The old Sander was a 36 single belt TimeSaver and it was a Very good sander also. They are work horses heavy duty
My favorite things about the New 42 in. sander is the digital read out - the bed has a motor to raise and lower the bed . Also has a auto set up on it which is neat , not sure how thick you stock is lower the bed more than the stock thickness place your stock under the little probe thing and hold down the button till the light comes on and its ready to go . The 3 belt is a big time saver over a single belt
Also you need a very good dust collector it really makes the dust fly.
Good used one might fit your Budget.
