In installing beveled glass in an exterior door, what is the proper direction of the bevel? Facing out or in?

It all depends if you are facing out or in. The bevel is what you want to see.
Generally, on an exterior door you want the bevel facing outward. This is done to promote "curbside appeal" and property value should you sell the place.
In days gone by, glass was bevelled on both sides to avoid this conflict.
