I am installing a new 50″ Biesemeyer Commercial Fence on my Unisaw.
Question: Does the rail on the outfeed side of the saw serve any purpose other than stiffen the extension table? I have installed the infeed side rail, graduated rectangular tube and fence. It works fine. I am just curious what the outfeed rail actually does.
Thanks, Glenn

No it is just for the table.
Pardon my spelling,

Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
The outfeed rail is also used to mount the Biesemeyer outfeed table extension

As Mike said , the back rail has no function in in the operation of the fence other than perhaps to brace the table top . I have never used the rear one and could not live without this type of fence .

That seamed odd to me when I put my new saw together also but as far as i can tell holding up the table is it's only point. I used to have a Vega pro fence on my old saw before it when up in smoke. Well really it just kind of melted and scortched butt.. and that used the back to run back and forth on.
Man i still miss my old Vegas micro adjustmant, the Biesemeyer is nice but the Vega was great. Of course I added that to a saw that had a old stile el cheepo fence.
