Ok, last minute X Mas gift issue. I picked up Biesemeyer splitter for my dads Left tilt Unisaw. but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of the guard, (I could give him an IOU for it) But I want others opinions. I like the arm idea, and that it locks out of the way for blade changes and such, I also really like the added Dust colection.
But I want others opinions.
Also I can order it from my local tool supplier, but is their a cheaper place?

Sorry to intrude on your thread. If you decide you want an overhead Bies guard, I have a used one for sale. I bought it on Ebay, stripped it down to the metal, repainted it, and replaced the clear lexan guard. Almost no use since I did that. Pretty much all I want is what I have into it. It can disassemble for shipping, but I will have to search for a large enough box. Drop me an email if you are interested, and I can send pics if you like.

Ok on secound thought after looking at the cost anyone know anything about the PSI guard?

Ever talk to you Dad about what he wanted? Most Men would not object!
Well he has looked into these very little (they are all to expensive) so in this case I was hopeing that someone had used one of these and could give a suggestion of what to get or what to stay away from. Being as they can be ordered but I do not know of anyplace you can play with them.

Doug,
I have the PSI guard, and like it. The protection from the blade is good, and the dust collection helps with the sawdust thrown out of the cabinet by the blade. When I have to cut something long, I can quickly remove the arm and holder if it is in the way (mine is not ceiling-mounted).
I have not used the Bies, so I cannot compare. Also, I am just a hobbyiest, so take my input with a grain of salt.
