Started building my router table cabinet which will be attached to TS. Went to HD picked up a couple sheets 3/4 Birch Plywood got home and started cutting all the parts. Used my jigsaw to cut out the DC hole all of a sudden snap went the blade when I got to looking at the cut I found what seemed to be the end of a 1/4 bolt inbedded in the wood sure glad it wasn’t my $70 saw blade! Big Box material may be cheap but in the end it could cost more than quality material.

I have found Big Box material to be expensive for what you get. The veneers are thin and the cores are not the highest quality.
Very true! but for the shop I figured $39 vs $68 at the local lumber yards it was worth it I am seriously reconsidering that idea.
My personal experience. I've never seen a sheet of birch plywood (real high veneer count like baltic birch) warp so much or so fast. I initially thought the price was to good, especially for a 4x8 sheet. Went back to the real deal at my local hardwood supplier. Guess that I had to learn my lesson again, you get what you pay for.
I'v noticed that here too.
BigK ,
I think Those multi plied sheets that warp are some kind of an import product that look good , but the core is not stable and typically warps in each direction .
As far as metal inside the sheets , oddly enough as this may sound here in the states most plywood mills sprinkle colored metalic flakes inbetween the layers of core . I was told the reason is so they can positively identify their products . They each use a different color coding .Maybe the flakes are in the glue not sure .
