I have a Binks Mach 1 HVLP spray gun. I running a 5 horse 25 gal tank compresser. I can not seem to get the gun to spray right. One person told me I needed at least a 7 horse compresser. I have a Devibliss Finish Line that works great. Any help would be apreciated.

The Binks Mach 1 HVLP needs bewteen 7 and 22 CFM of air depending on the size needle/nozzle, air cap, and set-up (siphon or pressure feed). The standard siphon cup set-up requires 22 CFM which means you'll need a 7.5 HP, 2 stage compressor with 80 gallon tank at a minimum to get good atomization and reasonable spray time. A larger compressor would be better.
The DeVilbiss Finishline requires less air to atomize - that's why it works okay with your compressor.
There are a number of sray guns that require mcuh less air - Asturo, Walcom, etc...
