I have a bunch of birch and maple pickets left over from a number of staircases, can I use them for an outside deck. Will they hold up to the weather, going to put thompsons water seal on them, we are in a very humid climate.

Neither Birch nor maple are weather/rot resistant. Both species go punky quite quickly outdoors.
