In the process of clearing a lot to build a new home I came across a black birch tree perfectly split through its crotch yielding two perfectly book matched slabs. The grain is highly figured, and although they have probably been there about a year or so, they seem to be in pretty good shape.
Does this particular wood warrant the effort? Meaning is it an attractive wood? Is it a nice wood to work with?
I could run down there tomorrow a get a couple of pics if it would help.
I would love to make something out of it for the new home. But would hate to waste my time if it’s really ornery or tough to look at.
Thanks in advance,
TR

If nothing else make a nice 'slab' table out of it...
Could be FUN!
