Reading some of these post regarding table saw tune-ups and alignment prompted me ask this question. I can’t, for the life of me, get my blade guard/splitter aligned on my Delta Contractor’s saw. From the very beginning (it’s almost a year old) I just can’t get it straight and parallel with the blade, hence, I don’t use it at all. I know from this forum that US blade guards are generally weak, but I would occasionally like to use it for safety reasons. It always seems to be at a slight angle to the blade which causes anything going through to bind. I’ve read the manual and done everything I know of to correct this, but I just end up taking it off and saying to heck with it. Any help?

I've never owned a Delta table saw, but I'll assume the guard set-up is essentially the same as that used by Jet.
The two best methods for adjusting the guard are:
Liberal application of either will bring out the very best that guard is capable of delivering.
If you're serious about safety, check the archives for European style splitters or riving knives.

Did you never talk with Delta about this problem? The only way they're going to realize we want these accessories to work right is if we complain when they don't. I have a similar problem with the splitter on my Jet contractor's saw, but I bought it used, so complaining isn't an option. When it's directly in line with the sawblade, it isn't really 90degrees to the table. Only a problem on thick stuff I guess.
Your best bet at this point may be the Biesemeyer (sp?) splitter.

I had the same problem with the old Rigid. You had to straghten it (by hand - no need to use torch or sledge on that sheet metal), almost every time you used it. I did try to be faithful about using it (after a couple painful kickbacks). I agree that we need to tell the manufactures that the current guards are not saitisfactory. I'm sure nobody wants to be the first to improve and have to raise the price of their saw but I'm surprised that someone hasn't sued and brought the thing to a head.
In the mean time does someone have a website for a dealer on the biesmeyer splitter? That seems to be the best interim option and amazon shows it only for the pm66.
Thanks,
JIm
Here's a link for the complete list of Bies. splitters:

They say to click on the Distributors' link, but I haven'y found it yet!
OK, here are some other links. (Let's hope Knots doesn't crash this time).

Thank You ForestGirl. I've noticed you're always very generous in your time and knowledge to us dumbes. Today it was on Amazon (don't know why they only showed pm66 last time). I ordered it.
Again, Thank You
Jim
