   Look for a buildup of sawdust on the stop. The sawdust will usually settle there, absorb the grease and become compacted. See if it will lower when the blade is vertical, too. If you remove the throat plate, you can see if there is a need to clean out the mechanism.

   thanks high, will give it a try. wish i had tried that when i had the guard off, what a pain to get it off.
