BLANKET CHEST MOLDING

the balnket chest in issue #172 shows a top molding detail that’s

little confusing, I’m hoping you can help clear this up. The detail shows the top molding with a bull-nose 7/8″ thick and 1 1/4 ” wide,with a 1/2” cove glued on the bottom side of the bull-nose. THe diagram shows this molding fitting on the edge of the lid which is 3/4 ” wide. THe diagram shows the bull-nose as less than the 3/4″ edge of the lid.The measurements don’t add up.Any suggestions? Am i reading it wrong or the dimentions in the plan wrong? any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like you identified an error in the illustration. I need to double check with the editor then get back to you with the correct info.

Looks like you have a keen eye. The illustration shows an incorrect dimension. That piece should be 5/8 in. thick, not 7/8 in. thick. That way, when you add the 5/8 in. thick bull nose to the 1/2 in. thick cove, you get a molding that is 1 1/8 in. thick.
