I am wondering if a commercial bleach or Oxalic acid will get rid of the stain caused by mildew on a western pine. I have stopped the mildew, I believe with straight out of the bottle house hold bleach. When I mill the rough lumber however the stain is worse below the surface which was
not totally clear. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Tony

Plain household bleach is what you use for removing mildew stains. Oxalic acid will bleach the wood itself. Be sure you use fresh household bleach. Bleach deteriorates very rapidly once opened.
