BLO and wax causing white discoloration
I was describing my usual finish of wax over BLO to another woodworker and he asked me how I prevent getting white discoloration on my table surfaces from liquids and heat. I didn’t know how to respond to his question as I had not experienced this, nor have I had any clients complain about this effect occuring on pieces out in the field. What the heck is this guy talking about, what causes these white blemishes, and why am I not experiencing them on my pieces (as this guy expects me to be)?

You and your clients are just being VERY careful to never put a wet glass on the furniture. Lucky you. It will sure as shootin' cause a white ring. And heat also.
