Has anyone tried using Blum Full Overlay Hinges for thick doors as a hinge for a chest lid. Any reason why they would not work? I am building a medium size chest 30″ x 18″. Lid will be 31.5″ x 18.75″ x 1″ thick red oak and I will be using lid supports. Any help or comments would be appreciated, Thanks.

Never tried it; if you wanted to use slow-close hardware (a good idea if there are kids around), the hinge action might interfere with it. You can buy Blum with or without a spring (if you weren't aware of that); without would make a smoother action, but maybe you would prefer the 'snap'.
*Tom: I`m not called the auld rebel for nothing. I favor piano hinges for my chest tops. The strains of opening and closing are distributed over a much larger area. The slo closing hardware is an absolute neccessity for a heavy top.PAT
