do they also serve to help hold material against the fence as well as prevent kickback?

Hi Jeff,
Advantages/disadvantages of Board Buddies vs. other employable systems?

I have them and love them over feather boards. they do 2 things at once. hold down and keep against the fence. works up to about 10/4 wood. I have the ones that will move both ways. i have not had an issue with any kickback. I do a lot of 1" strips.

They have an advantage over a featherboard in that they can be placed before AND after the saw blade, to hold down and hold stock against the fence. You cannot do that with a featherboard, as it will push the offcut back into the blade, and we all know what that does.
Placing your fingers back there to hold stock firmly against the fence on small strips is extremely dangerous, and should be considered a bozo no-no.

Hi All,
Thanks for your help/insight. Placed an order for a pair today. I also want to use them for my router table, which is built into my TS.
Thanks again,
