Board buddies auxillary fence
I live in the United Kingdom and I have purchased a set of yellow Board buddies from Rutlands a UK. woodwork site who market the product a Dakota antikickback hold down device for table saws
I have the following problem. The instruction manual on the Woodstock web site states the auxiliary fence should be 3 inches high .The fence on my table saw is 4 inches high. When I make an auxiliary fence the minimum height it will be before attaching the optional sliding track is 4 and a half inches.
My questions
(1)Will the Board Buddies still work
(2) Can you remove the threaded rod from the Board Buddies and replace with another longer rod or is it impossible to remove
(3)Can anyone offer another solution .I would prefer not to purchase a replacement fence

The higher fence will mean that you won't be able to use the board buddies on thinner woods, or for ripping narrower pieces. They just won't reach!
My BBs are over 20y.o., and the threaded rod is integral to the part--so no (simple) way to add an extender. Plus, even if you add an extender, it limits their use on ripping thinner stock.
So, you can use them for ripping thicker and wider stock, but otherwise you will have to find a way to reduce your fence height. It sounds like a very high fence--post a picture and maybe some solution will come to mind.
Good luck
Thank you for your response. At this point in time I am unable to post a picture or the fence but hope to do so at a later date
I have had mixed success. I have obtained some threaded rod of the correct diameter and number of threads per inch to extend the length of the pivot arm on the Board Buddies
The difficulty in the United Kingdom is I am unable to obtain a threaded connector to attach the piece of threaded rod to extend the length of the pivot arm on the Board Buddies(metric connectors are freely available but not imperial inch connectors) but a solution has emerged
A neighbour has a father in law who is a welder at Rolls Royce Aerospace He is going to weld together two threaded nuts of the correct diameter , thread number and pitch ,so hopefully I have found a solution to my problem
Again many thanks for your reply
