Bob Van Dyke’s Auxiliary Table Saw Fence Question
I plan on making Bob Van Dyke’s Auxiliary Table Saw Fence (FWW #231). I’m curious as to why the Bridge piece, that straddles the underneath fence, is made up of 2 layers of the 3/4″ plywood and if 2 layers are really necessary? Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated. Thank You.

I just finished this fence, so will hazard a reply. My guess is that the 2 layers provide a large mounting surface that stabilizes the saw blade side of the auxiliary fence and prevents it from deflecting when it is snugged up against the table saw fence.
I agree it is for stability of the faces.
I made this and highly recommend it. I use it for lots of things. He has a tenoning jig that uses *five* layers of plywood (he notes that you can use MDF, which might be an option for you)
