I have Hyltons, Illustrated Cabinetmaking. It gives a general overview of Bombe’ Chest construction. I was hoping for something more detail.
Are there any plans out there for Bombe construction, whether it be for chests, commodes or whatever.
Thanks very much guys,
Chris

Eddie,
You've given me great, absolutely fabulous links. Its incredible what those guys have made. It will be a year or more before I even start. But look forward to the challenge.
Are building one yourself? Or have you already mad one?
A few items with Bombe's articles or plans...
I just purchased FWW #45 on ebay
I just purchased Tautons "Making Period Furniture" at bookfinder.com
Both will arrive in a few days.
I'm certain there must be other resources for Bombe' construction. More tips are welcome.
Again thanks for the links. I'm gonna go over them now.
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your comments.
Whilst I'm trained to a level where I could do this, I just simply haven't got the time to at the moment. When my kids are in their teens I may have a bit more time of an evening to myself.
Good luck - it's a bit challenging, but not that hard to do - all about setting the curved serpentine sides at the correct angles when you cut joinery - I'm sure you'll get more comments/help as you progress along the way.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers,
eddie
Chris,
I am starting to build a bombe chest of drawers tomorrow. It has the serpentine front and ball and claw legs, very similar to the one on the SAPFM website. I am using some construction techniques similar to the one Lance Patterson made in the FWW publications you just purchased. I have full scale drawings that I made and would be willing to send you a copy for a small fee . I am just starting so the plans may be revised as I progress through construction. Let me know if you are interested. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have concerning construction details or techniques.
