I’m surprised at the lack of books on these tools. I found an out of print book (http://www.amazon.com/Jointers-Planers-Choose-Maintain-Them/dp/0806967552/sr=1-2/qid=1166733331/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-3668769-7251253?ie=UTF8&s=books) going for $170 & up for

My goodness! $170-225.00 for the book!!!! You can just buy a new jointer or planer for that.
I laughed 'til I cried when I saw those asking prices a couple months ago! I bought that book maybe 3 years ago? It's a great book to have on hand, and I'm really sorry it's out of print, but the "entrepreneurs" who're trying to get some sucker to bite at those prices.......Sheesh!
Get John White's book, Care and Repair of Shop Machines. Really fits the bill.

Forestgirl,
I think I'll buy a few cases of my book, stash them away, and then wait until my book goes out of print, I'll finally make some money.
Thanks for recommending my book.
Happy Holidays,
John
Between that and selling used Lie-Nielsen planes on Ebay, you could fund a nice retirement! Merry Christmas to all. Tom"Notice that at no time do my fingers leave my hand"
John,I think that I'll buy 50 copies of your book, to do just what you said, when your's is out of print. :-)
Maybe it is like art work. The value goes up when the artist dies. Just how badly do you want to make moneY???:-)
A hapy comfortable year to all.
Not that badly.

My sentiments exactly. Guess it's time to un-shelve your multi copies to E-bay. Sheesh.
