OK. This a variation on a thread I started a few days ago. I’m a finish carpenter who is unhappy where I’m at—long winters, lousy scenery, etc… Although money is certainly important, I’d sacrifice a bit in that area for appreciation of quality. I would much rather work for someone who is “picky” than someone who is “cheap”. Would I get that in the hurricane zones—I don’t know. Where can one go where quality is appreciated, finish work is plentiful, life is low-key (I ain’t no spring chicken anymore) , and a man and his woman can enjoy some great scenery on the bike on the weekends most of the year? A good drop-zone for skydiving is also a big plus.

Sorry about the "thumbs-up" sign on my posts, keep forgetting about that.
"Sorry about the "thumbs-up" sign on my posts, keep forgetting about that." I'm not following what you mean.....forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I guess it may take me a while to get the hang of some things here. I have noticed when I post a message I often (at this end anyway) see one of those yellow thumbs up thingys next to it. Figured I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
That "thumbs up" icon is just telling you that this thread has been marked (on your account -- not anyone else's) as a thread of high interest. They show up automatically on any thread you've posted to or started.
Just points out the need for a FAQ for this board with info and how-tos for newbies.

To add to Mike's info about the thumbs-up being automatically attached to threads you've posted in.......you can also designate a thread "high interest" -- look at the bottom of this column and you'll see where to do that -- for instance, for a thread you want to reference without posting in it.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Nantucket Island. Everything you asked for, from about April thru October. If you get a foothold there doing finish carpentry, you won't need to work during the winters.
