Hey all,
I’m considering buying the Bosch 4410 sliding miter saw; as far as i can tell, it’s the best on the market right now. Does anyone know of any problems with this saw, or if there is a better 10″ miter saw on the market? I’ll be using it for fine trim and cabinet work; i’ll keep my old delta kicking aroung for framing and rough work.
Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

Jesse,
I too have been looking hard at the 4410 and thought I would safe some money by getting a "factory reconditioned" saw! Most internet sites that list these saws for sale have a waiting list. One site I contacted about availability told me that the had stopped listing the 4410 because there were not enough saws going into the factory to be reconditioned and then sent to resellers! That is actually a good thing, it tells that this is a quality saw that is having very few problems that require returning the saw! I'll bite the bullet and get a "factory new" 4410 within the next two weeks!
Good luck with your purchase!! KyJoe
Yeah, that sounds like a good omen. I'm in Canada, and the 10" won't be availiable for another few weeks apparently - they were on the shelves here, but i've been told that Bosch stopped shipping them because they wanted to tweak the controls and add a laser guide before selling any more - another thing i'll take as a good sign: a saw that was already being lauded as one of the best ever to hit the market, and bosch decided that it still wasn't quite good enough. Is the laser a standard feature on the ones in the States?

Jesse,
The 4410 on the shelves in the stores now DOES NOT have the laser, there has been some mention of adding it to the next production run! From what I have heard from people that have laser tools, I think they are pretty much an un-needed gimmick! Most of the saw lasers are 1/16 of a inch off (or more) most of the time! In order to keep the laser line dead on the cut-line a lot of "tweaking" is required! This is especially true with saws moved often on job sites! I'll stick to hitting a pencil line on the boards I cut!

Yeah, i've had my doubts about lasers, but surely the technology will improve? I read a review not long ago (i can't remember which rag), and they said that most of them aren't that accurate, but there were a couple rarities among the dual laser versions that were pretty good. I'm sure i wouldn't trust them for fine miter cuts, but for rougher work they could be handy. Certainly nothing i'd base my purchase on. Anyways, i was in House of Tools today, and they said they wouldn't be getting any 4410s on the shelf until MAY!!! I doubt i can wait that long. Maybe i'll try the ridgid or dewalt.

I would wait for the Bosch. I have used both rigid and dewalt saws and the quality of the Bosch is superior. Just my two cents worth.
