Anyone having problems with the switch on the Colt?
I got a Colt (PR20 version) last week and have been using it to rout mortises for pocket door pulls. I am holding it sideways when routing, and chips of course fly everywhere.
I am experiencing a problem where the on/off switch likes to stay in the “on” position (needless to say–this is VERY BAD). I’ve checked for crud catching under the switch, but I’m wondering if I have a bad switch, or is it a bad design for what I’m trying to do.
I’m ready to take it back to Slowes for an exchange, but wanted to hear what others have experienced with this model.

Try pulling the brushes and blowing out the tool with some compressed air. I had the same problem with my Hitachi slider some years back and by replacing the brushes and cleaning the contact on the armature the problem was fixed.
However since yours is a newer tool, mine was 10 years old at the time, I would probably return for a new tool.

I have the 20evsk version... only had it a couple of weeks. I have used it to route a groove for some inlay on a dining room table and to do some edge routing. I love it so far. No problems with the switch or any other feature so far. It sounds like you have a bad switch. Since it is so new I would suggest you exchange it.

Pond, I had/ have the same trouble with a Bosch sabersaw's switch jamming with sawdust (usuall stuck in off position.)
Have a Crapsman rotory tool that, due to any vibration, it's slide switch slides to off position in the middle of an operation. (BUMMER!)
