Someytime back, I bought a Bosch trim router, thru the Internet, reconditioned. It was about $90 and turned out to be a delightful tool. I used it to cut dovetails and tenons.
It quit. I’m an occasional ww’er so I know I did not “wear it out”.
Anyone have any advice on the Bosch trim router?
I am a Bosch fan. Perhaps, I was asking too much from the little router or perhaps a reconditioned machine is not the way to go.
Any experience or advice?

HOW did it "just quit"? Did ya use it till all the smoke leaked out or just plug it in and it never woke up from a nap?
If it smoked, say bye bye...
If it wont wake up, the switch is the first thing to check, after ya make sure you plugged it in.
Next is brushes or commutator problem...brushes are easy, nothing but a screwdriver, commutator cooked? Is Bye bye.
No apparent reason for the thing to not run. I had been using it and went back to cut some more tenons and it was dead as a door nail. I partially disassembled it and could find no apparent reason for the thing to not run. I guess I'll dig out the VOM.
I'm pretty good at fooling with equipment and I saw no reason for the failure. Do you buy reconed equipment? There was only about $20 difference in price and the reconed stuff maybe a bad deal.
Thanks for the responce.

Usually, reconditioned equipment has not been heavily used.If you don't feel competent to trouble shoot the problem, just take it into (or send it to) one of Bosch Service Centers.http://www.boschtools.com/product-services/service-center-locator/********************************************************

I've bought a few Bosch reconditioned products. I don't have any complaints.
I don't know where you bought your router, but the tools I've bought through CPO Bosch have a one year warranty (the same as new products). You didn't say exactly when you bought your router. Hopefully it wasn't more than a year ago!
Wonderfull reply - I got it from CPO Bosch - time to dig out the credit card statements.
Thanks very much.

I've bought recon Bosch CSMS, circ saw, jigsaw, colt router, and 3" planer - all work great. Colt router developed a bearing noise and Bosch fixed it right away at no charge, no questions.By the way, for those who use work drive saws, Bosch made too many of their special chrome-plated models and are now selling them as recon for $119.

Bruce - took a look at the Bosch CPO site but I don't see the saw you're talking about. Where do I go to see it?charlie -- "Count your blessings....it could always be worse!"
The saw is called "Limited Edition" 7 1/4" Worm Drive - see it at: http://www.boschtools.com/tools/tools-detail.htm?H=175981&G=54930&I=73357I saw them at the Bosch service center when I was picking up my Colt router from the repair desk. Looks like they aren't offering those to CPO or maybe they are all gone; but the guy said they were getting them every couple of weeks.BruceT
The first thing that popped into my mind is that the tasks you bought the router for seem more appropriate for a standard router. Is this the Bosch Colt?? Defective switches are pretty common with that model, IIRC.
