dear all,
I bought a Bosch palm-sized screwdriver today, IXO 3.6volt. Just on a whim ’cause it was so cute. Anybody use these?

Haven't yet, but I'm thinking about it. Way easier for little applications that I don't want to drag out the bit cordless drill for.

Never heard of it. Is it new?
Do you have a link, so we can see what it looks like?

Yes, I bought one last year. Came in a round biscuit tin. Lovely little machine and the first thing I pick up. Heaps of torque, light, chuck-less driver change. Fits into much smaller spaces than a conventional driver. Mine was made in Malaysia. Highly recommended with one caution - wouldn't know about all-day production use!

I can't find it on Bosch's website, but here's a link to a UK retailer just to see what it looks like:

Neat -- I notice this one carries the Skil brand. Is Bosch doing one under their own logo too?I'm not up on exchange rates. Would that be about $60-70?"I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong."

That $40.61 if it's in British pounds.
The only one I've seen in the US takes AA batteries, but I have not really looked for them. Since I use rechargeable AA's for my camera, that'd work out OK. The lithium batts are much more expensive, driving the price of the unit.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
FG is right about the price - it's under $50. The one I bought has "Bosch" written all over it, I don't understand the mention of Skil in the ad. Are they they now the same company?
In any case, I'm hoping it will be handy for assemblies - hinge screws, pulls, etc. It feels good in the hand and seems to have some power. Like the blind man said, "we shall see..."

Yep -- Bosch owns Skil."I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong."

My Bosch-branded Malaysian-made version has the German trademarks and a http://www.bosch-pt.com web address. Specs are:
3.6V, max no-load speed 180rpm, torque 2.75Nm, weight 0.3kg, uses Li-ion batteries and sits on a dedicated charging cradle. Battery capacity 1.0Ah, recharge time 5 hrs, always ready to use.
Easy switching from left to right rotation with colour led indicator, nice soft grip, big trigger (sometimes a problem - if you're acustomed to picking up a drill with a firm grip and finding the trigger with an index finger, this little tool may surprise you - it'll be running before you're ready, because the trigger occupies most of the grip).
Comes with a set of bits.
I've liked mine ever since I bought it. I didn't need it. Walked past the cute round biscuit tin presentation several times, in gthe end couldn't resist. from memory about $NZ60.
