Wow…I just bought the Bosch barrel grip jig saw model 1591 and can’t believe a jig saw is this fun, easy and accurate to use. This is truely the best jig saw I have ever used.

I have used the Bosch top strap jigsaws with the same opinion on their quality as you express. Then, a couple years ago finally got a barrel grip just to try it. Now I am a true barrel grip convert and wonder just why it took me this long to make the change.
Great jigsaw in either handle configuration.

Because there is always more to learn!
I had an Elu top strap and thought I had a bargain. The switch however was under the strap, and soon every time I picked it up it was going! Very awkward to let go as well.
It seems to me that the manufacturers that came out first with a particular tool is better at making it than the competition. I remember when Bosh (Scintilla back then) first came out with the all aluminum jig saw, it was a pretty good tool back then, still is.C.
cit, I too still have my scintilla I built it into a small box and mounted it upside down. I use it mostly with a foot switch to cut metal I also have the Bosch and I love it. Those scintilla blades are hard to find but recently bought about 40 at a flea market. Steinmetz.
Have you had a chance to try it out yet on a curved cut in 2X stock?
Blade wander (in this type of cut) was always the #1 problem with the older 1587 model.

I have only used it on sink cout outs in laminate countertops so far. But zipped right through the doubled edges with little effort, thats 3" of particle board. Great machine.
And no problem with the blade wander thing -- i.e. a cut that is nt 90 degrees to the top surface?********************************************************

Edges are square...no blade wander at all.

Well, I bought a Festool saber saw to get that. You got it, and saved yourself $100 in the process.********************************************************
